Hard
Drives
We only stock IDE hard drives. 5400rpm
v 7200rpm
Data
transfer is directly proportional to rpm, therefore, if the drives are
otherwise identical the 7200rpm drive can be expected to be 33% faster on
continuous data transfers. UDMA33
v UDMA66
Hard Drives have a cache built into them which allows them to achieve
short bursts of data transmission beyond their continuous rating. A UDMA66
drive is able to send twice the data in a short cached burst than a UDMA33
drive. The motherboard used must be able to support UDMA66 and a special
screened 80 wire IDE cable should be used.
